In the midst of the busy and sometimes overwhelming role of motherhood, having a strong foundation in the word of God is crucial. Words of truth to fall back on when we are overstimulated, overwhelmed, frustrated and tired.
Having scripture memorized for times like this can be such a difference maker in motherhood. When difficult times come, we have verses to fall back on to help us persevere and change our mindset.
1. Choose Relevant Verses: Select verses that are personally meaningful to you. This will make the memorization process more engaging and relevant. 2. Start Small: Begin with shorter verses or passages. As you gain confidence and skill, you can gradually move on to longer ones.
3. Repeat and Review: Repetition is key to memorization. Repeat the verse multiple times throughout the day. Also, set aside specific times for review to reinforce your memory. 4. Write It Down: Write the verse down on paper or in a notebook. The physical act of writing can help reinforce your memory. I like to use notecards and put them around my house where I will see them often
5. Read Aloud: Recite the verse out loud. Hearing yourself say it can engage both auditory and verbal memory. 6. Apply the Verse: Reflect on the meaning and relevance of the verse to your life. Applying its message can help solidify your memory and deepen your understanding.
7. Set a Routine: Establish a consistent time each day for memorization. Consistency will help build a habit and make memorization more effective. 8. Accountability: Memorizing verses with a friend or family member can help with accountability and make it more fun.
9. Sing: Put the verse to a simple tune or rhythm. Singing or chanting can make memorization more enjoyable and effective. I still remember some bible verses that I learned as songs when I was a kid. 10. Pray about it: Ask God for help in memorizing His Word. Pray for clarity, understanding, and retention as you engage with the verses.
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (New Living Translation)
This is the first of the ten commandments and is repeated in the new testament as God’s greatest commandment for us to obey. If this is the most important thing that God has asked us to do, then it should also be a priority to teach our children. We should teach them first to love God, and second to love others. The best way to teach? In leading by example in your own home!
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. (New Living Translation)
This verse is great because it reminds us of where the fruit in our life truly comes from. It’s not from ourselves! It’s a result of remaining (some translations say abiding) in Christ. If I want to produce great fruit in my children’s lives, I have to stay connected to the source. This is one of the best encouraging bible verses for Moms because it is a reminder of the source of our strength when (not if) we can’t do it on our own.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!" (New Living Translation)
Often on my hard days I am challenged to play close attention to my thoughts and actions. Are my thoughts and actions fruit of the spirit or of my own sinful nature?
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.
This verse is a good encouragement and reminder to stay faithful in our training and discipline with our children. It encourages us to teach our children to live according to God’s word, and if we do so they will not depart from it.
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. (New Living Translation)
God knew our children before they ever existed. He formed them with his own hands inside of our wombs. This is such an encouraging and uplifting verse for mothers, reminding us that we are apart of God’s plan to create new life that he ordained! We play a role in His good and perfect plan… knowing this gives me great joy.
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. (New Living Translation)
This verse can apply to a lot of things in the Christian walk. But I do think that it’s a powerful encouragement for moms. Parenting, like all other parts of our Christian calling requires endurance. Even when the motherhood journey is tough, your persistence and dedication will yield rewarding results. Hold strong, and remember that you are doing good work in your children’s lives.
And do everything with love. (New Living Translation)
Of course, we love our children. So much that it can’t be put into words! However, I’ll be the first to tell you that sometimes my reactions are not loving... But God has asked us to do everything in love. Not just when it’s easy. I think this is such a great way to show the love of God to our kids, when we are stressed, they mess up, things are not going smoothly and we respond in love.
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. (New Living Translation)
Overwhelm. It’s common in motherhood, isn’t it? We are constantly trying to do it all, and we constantly fall short. This verse made the list of best bible verses for Moms because it’s a reminder to lean on God.
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. (NLT)
This verse speaks for itself. What a blessing, what a reward are our children! God has given his us so many great things.. children have to be up there as one of the best. This verse is a great encouragement for us as Moms and a reminder to praise the one who graciously gives us all things.
Throughout the Bible, Moms can find a daily source of encouragement, guidance, and hope. As you navigate this beautiful calling of motherhood, I hope that this list of the best bible verses for Moms remind you of your purpose and your calling.
Embrace these words of wisdom, memorize them, and let them encourage you to continue being the incredible mother you are meant to be. Remember at the end of the day, it’s not about us. We can’t do this motherhood thing on our own… we desperately need Jesus. Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” The best thing we can do is commit to teaching our children to love God, and love each other. That is the greatest commandment!
