- 1 cup sourdough starter discard
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- 2 cups whole milk or use whatever you drink
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp raw honey
- 2 cups whole wheat flour i used freshly milled soft white
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- coconut oil or similar for greasing waffle iron
Wet Ingredients
Combine melted butter, sourdough discard, and milk in a large bowl. Mix everything together until well combined.
Add the eggs and honey and mix
Add Dry Ingredients
Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the wet ingredients.
Mix everything together until just combined. A few small clumps are ok.
Cook Waffles
Once your waffle iron is hot, brush it with a little bit of coconut oil to prevent the waffles from sticking.
Scoop some waffle batter onto the waffle iron, and cook according to your waffle maker. The amount will vary based on what you have.
Cook the waffle until it is golden brown and cooked all the way through.
Repeat until you have used all of your batter. Stir occasionally to make sure the batter doesn't separate.
