Ingredients In Avocado Brownies
Real food, wholesome ingredients are all you need for these healthy avocado brownies! Here’s what you will need:
- Ripe avocado – Don’t worry, you won’t taste it at all. Make sure that it’s ripe enough that it can be easily mashed.
- 1/4 cup chunky natural peanut butter – I like the texture of chunky peanut butter, but you can totally use smooth if you prefer. I love the subtle peanut flavor in these brownies.
- 1/2 cup real maple syrup – My absolute favorite way to sweeten a recipe without using refined sugar.
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsweetened organic cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour (I used fresh milled soft white wheat)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp unrefined salt – my favorite salt is redmonds real salt
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional) + additional chocolate chips for melting and drizzling if desired
- butter or coconut oil for greasing the pan
Other Things You Might Need
- Food processor (optional, you can also mix with a spoon but the food processor makes it really easy)
- 9 x 9 glass baking dish
- Rubber spatula
How To Make Fudgy Avocado Brownies
These healthy brownies are really easy, basically you combine everything and then bake!
Step One: Preheat the oven to 350, and grease a 9 x 9 glass baking dish with butter or coconut oil. Or, you can line your baking sheet with unbleached parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Step Two: Combine all of the brownie ingredients except for the chocolate chips into the bowl of a food processor. If you don’t have a food processor, you can mix it in a bowl by hand.
Step Three: Mix everything together until a smooth batter forms.
Step Four: Stir in the chocolate chips with a spoon, if using. I find it easier to transfer the batter to a large bowl to stir in the chocolate chips.

Step Five: Scoop all of the brownie batter into the prepared pan with a rubber spatula. Smooth it out evenly in the pan.
Step Six: Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the pan comes out clean.
Optional: Drizzle with a little bit of melted chocolate & sprinkle with sea salt. Enjoy your delicious, chocolatey brownies warm!
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
