Why You Will Love This Recipe

Save Money: You can make a creamy vanilla raw milk latte at home for a fraction of the cost of a coffee shop. Over time, this will save you a lot of money!

A Healthier Alternative: Besides all of the health benefits of raw milk, making a latte at home with natural ingredients is much healthier. Many coffee shop lattes have somewhere from 15 – 50 grams of added sugar! Plus, most of them use artificial flavorings to accomplish the vanilla maple flavor that we are going to use real food ingredients for.

Easy To Make: Don’t let the idea of a homemade latte intimidate you. It’s super easy and can be done in just a few minutes.

Why A Raw Milk Latte?

You can certainly make this recipe with pasteurized milk or whatever milk you drink, but I love to use raw milk because of all the health benefits that raw milk provides. Raw dairy products are dairy products that haven’t been pasteurized, or heated to destroy all bacteria. During pasteurization milk is heated to a temperature of 162 F for at least 16 seconds, or 145 F for 30 minutes. The problem with this is, that raw milk has tons of beneficial bacteria that is destroyed during this process. Here are some of the benefits to raw milk that has not been pasteurized:

  • Incredibly nutrient dense
  • Fat soluble vitamins A, D and K2 (this is why pasteurized milk often has synthetic vitamins added back into it)
  • Rich in healthy fats, short chain fatty acids, CLA, and Omega 3s
  • Essential minerals and electrolytes – calcium, magnesium, and potassium
  • Great source of probiotics

How To Make A Raw Milk Latte With Vanilla & Maple Syrup

Step 1: Measure out your milk using the glass measuring cup. Set the measuring cup aside to froth your milk in (if using a milk frother)

Step 2: Add the milk to the saucepan, and heat slowly over medium low heat while stirring. We don’t want to burn the milk, or destroy all the beneficial nutrients.

Step 3: Add the maple syrup, vanilla, and a sprinkle of cinnamon to the milk.

Step 4: While the milk is heating, prepare your espresso shot in your mug.

Step 5: Continue heating until the milk is heated to your desired temperature. I like really hot coffee, but make it however you like it.

Step 6: Once the milk is heated to your liking, pour it back into the glass measuring cup. Use your milk frother to give the milk a nice foam.
